Rihanna covers Bob Marley’s Redemption Song

Rihanna and Simon Cowell are each releasing charity songs to raise funds for the victims of the Haiti earthquake.

While Rihanna’s cover of Bob Marley’s classic Redemption Song is already available for download, the music mogul is hastily gathering a group of British pop stars to record another track.

The singer, 21, said she felt compelled to act after watching the devastation of the Caribbean island on the news following the 7.0-magnitude earthquake on January 12.

Appearing on the Oprah Winfrey Show yesterday, Rihanna performed an acoustic version of the song. Her cover of the 1980 Marley track is available to download from iTunes now, with proceeds going to the Haiti Relief Fund.

Urging fans to download the track, Rihanna said she had chosen the song because she had always found it comforting during difficult times in her life.

She said: ‘This song, for me, any time there was a difficult situation, I always listened to this song. It’s so liberating. Even now, I listen to it when my back is up against the wall. I feel the people of Haiti need to hear something inspiring.’

Fab-at-40 J-Lo dazzles in short dress as she helps to launch friend’s make-up bible

She became a sex symbol in the 90s thanks to her stunning Latin looks and her famous posterior.

And over a decade later, at the grand age of 40, Jennifer Lopez proves she still has what it takes to sparkle on the red carpet.

The actress and singer looked gorgeous during an appearance at the launch of a book by her make-up artist Scott Barnes at the Provocateur club in The Hotel Gansevoort in New York. She showed off her amazing figure in a strapless Louis Vuitton LBD with intricate detailing along the panels on either side, coupled with Christian Louboutin gold and black heels and a small black handbag.

Considering the stunning singer is mother to 18-month-old twins she looked fantastic, topping off her look with an immaculate wavy hairdo.

Lopez features on the cover of Scott Barnes’ new book About Face, of which there are two different versions — one for the US and one for the UK. Barnes has worked with Jennifer for the past 10 years, most recently on her latest movie The Back-Up Plan.

However, the two had a very public falling-out in 2004, following the singer’s wedding to husband Marc Anthony, when he said that the singer owed him money. Scott claimed that he was invited to the wedding thinking that he would be making up Lopez for the MTV Awards, but he ended up not only working on her, but other members of her family too.

But they have since made up, and Jennifer has even taken time to write the foreword for Barnes’ new book which is a compendium of hints and tips from his years of experience as a make-up artist.

Italian television presenter tries to grab Becks ‘Golden Balls’

David Beckham fell victim to a wacky prank on Italian TV when a female presenter wearing yellow rubber gloves tried to grab his ‘crown jewels’.

Blonde TV star Elena Di Cioccio carried out the ‘assault’ on a stunned Beckham, 34, as part of a popular TV show called Le Iene (The Hyenas).

He was in the middle of a television interview when she pounced on the unsuspecting footballer in the street.

Beckham was clearly unamused and was immediately hustled away by his security into a nearby hotel. But not before giving Ms Di Cioccio a filthy look. Di Cioccio targeted the former Manchester United star — who is now on loan at AC Milan — saying she wanted to see ‘how he measured up’ after it emerged he had been replaced as a Giorgio Armani underwear model by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Miranda Kerr strips off to unveil the curves

Lying naked on a rug, Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr gives a cheeky smile.

Perhaps she is contemplating her pay packet.

Two years after becoming a Victoria’s Secret Angel, Miranda’s earning power has steadily risen. She came in at number nine in Forbes magazine’s annual list of the world’s top-paid models. From July 2008 until June 2009, Miranda earned an impressive $3million.

Her private life is going equally well — she is happily dating British actor Orlando Bloom, with whom she lives in the Hollywood Hills.
