Hezron looking for big results at EME Awards
When the Excellence in Music and Entertainment Awards unfolds this Thursday in the Gardens of the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in Kingston, among the nominees with high expectations will be talented singer Hezron who has been nominated for Song of the Year with his single So In Love and for Male Vocalist of the Year.
The singer said that he couldn’t be any happier about this achievement. “When you do something good, it’s always a great feeling for it to be acknowledged.”
Things can only get better for this singer as he is now working with the Danger Zone Music Group.
“Danger Zone has a good track record and I am looking forward to doing some great work with them,” he said about his new association.
Dubbed as “one of reggae greatest talents” by entertainment critics Hezron is often compared to the likes of Mikey Spice, Beres Hammond and Luther Vandross, because of his raspy sound and thrilling lyrics.
Born in the Moy Hall District of St James, Jamaica, Hezron discovered his talents singing in the local church choir. He nurtured this talent with the support of family and friends and is now a poet, artiste, song writer and producer.
Formerly an R&B singer, he lived in the United States for over a decade and has worked with the likes of Tommy Mottola of Sony Records as well as Def Jam Records. Hezron, however, decided to return to Jamaica and to his first love, reggae music. He made the connection with producers Bobby Digital and Tad Dawkins, who has a unique eye and ear for talent.
Hezron has been doing the stage show circuit in Jamaica, delivering refreshing performances at Reggae Sumfest in July 2009 then made his presence felt at the ‘A St. Mary Mi Come From’ staging in August before serenading the contestants of the Miss Jamaica World 2009 Pageant. Among his better known singles are So In Love, Missing You and his most recent recording, We Shall Find A Way, which he describes as one of his “most uplifting songs”.
Hezron is working on an album to be released early in 2010 which will include another favourite of his, The One. “It is fun, exciting and up-tempo,” he said. Also expected to make the track list are Shaggy and Hezron in Two Places, unreleased but already a favourite for prime-time radio.
