Alexander McQueen’s ‘muse’ GaGa plans tribute to the tragic designer

Lady Gaga is reportedly planning to pay tribute to late fashion designer Alexander McQueen with a performance at the BRITs.

The controversial singer admitted she is still ‘in shock’ over McQueen’s tragic suicide on Thursday as she posted a photograph of her with the fashion great on her Twitter page.

GaGa, who McQueen’s publicist called the designer’s ‘unofficial muse’, told The Sun: ‘It’s horrible news. He was a big influence on a lot of my outfits, but far more than that he was a really lovely guy with a good heart.

‘I am still in shock and I just can’t believe how sad it all is.’

GaGa, who is famous for her outlandish outfits, regularly stepped out in McQueen’s creations.

In 2009 at the MTV Video Music Awards, she wore a see-through red lace McQueen dress, and the first ever performance of her single Bad Romance was at the designer’s Paris fashion show in October.

She also wore a pair of McQueen’s infamous 12-inch heels in the video for the single.

The singer is now said to be preparing a special tribute performance of the track at the BRITs on Tuesday.

The popularity of McQueen’s designs have dramatically increased following his death last week.

Sales of his lines, including his famous skull scarves, favoured by celebrities including Sienna Miller, Kylie Minogue and Naomi Campbell, shot up by 1400 per cent after the news broke.

An auction on the UK eBay site is offering the domain name InmemoryofAlexanderMcQueen.com for a staggering $1 million.

However, the auction has yet to receive any bids and the user was slammed by McQueen fans labelling the sale ‘in very bad taste’.

Mena Suvari drops all-American Beauty image for huge tattoo, spiky, raven up-do

Mention Mena Suvari and most people will recall the blonde teenager who seduced Kevin Spacey’s frustrated father character in global hit film American Beauty.

However, the 31-year-old has well and truly dropped the Lolita-esque image that made her famous for a look altogether more risqué.

For when taking a turn on the red carpet during Christian Siriano’s fashion week show in New York, the actress flaunted a spiky, raven up-do and a tattoo that stretched from her neck down her back.

Beginning with a lion’s face, the words ‘word, sound, power’ have then been etched between her shoulder blades.

And this wasn’t the only controversial accessory the Factory Girl actress was showing off. On her arm — looking slightly less comfortable in the limelight — was her fiancé, music producer Simone Sestito, 25.

Jesus to a child: Madge’s toyboy plays doting dad to Mercy

After a conciliatory reunion, it appears Madonna and her toyboy lover are stronger than ever.

Jesus Luz, 23, was happy to play happy families as the Brazilian model carried Madonna’s adopted baby Mercy before boarding a helicopter.

Along with daughter Lourdes and their usual entourage, the couple headed from Rio de Janeiro to Angra, an island-paradise a couple of hours away. But as the aircraft approached, the strong wind caused Madonna to lose her hat. The panicked popstar, 51, often goes to great lengths to avoid sun exposure.

And while her companions were sporting T-shirts and shorts, Madonna opted for a tracksuit and Panama that covered most of her body. Thankfully though, the singer was able to retrieve the item.

Posh puts fashion sense before common sense in icy New York

When faced with the prospect of having to navigate across an icy road, most people would opt for flat shoes.

But Victoria Beckham isn’t most people.

The 35-year-old star wore her usual sky-high heels as she stepped out in New York last night, and enlisted the help of a burly bodyguard to guide her across the ice.

Posh wore skinny jeans and a ‘Help Heal Haiti’ T-shirt, accessorised with a black structured blazer and red bag, as she made her way into Naomi Campbell’s Fashion For Relief event.

The runway show and auction, which was attended by celebrities including Kelly Osbourne, Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, Helena Christensen, Estelle and Chris Brown, raised funds to help rebuild Haiti’s health-care system following last month’s devastating earthquake.
