JMMB takes ‘Possibilities in Action’ Forum to Mandeville

Jamaica Money Market Brokers (JMMB) took their ‘Possibilities in Action’ forum to the South Coast last week, hosting the second leg of the series at the Golf View Hotel in Mandeville. The forums were designed to assist Jamaicans who are concerned about their financial future and are looking for practical, workable solutions and an effective partner to achieve their financial goals. This is against the backdrop of the recent issues facing the economy, as well as a result of the pending downsizing in the Government and private sectors.

Keith Duncan, JMMB Group CEO, said in his presentation that, “As a people, we have a strong spirit, we have faith and we have courage, we ‘wheel and come’ again as necessary no matter what life throws at us. You just need a plan.”

The forum drew attendees from in and around Mandeville who were invited to select from a range of goals at registration, including ‘Driving with Purpose – Motor Vehicle’, ‘My Own Home – House’ and ‘Debt Free and Free to Dream – Debt Consolidation’. The forum saw presentations by JMMB co-founder and group executive director Donna Duncan-Scott, who opened with ‘Your Possibilities Are Endless’, followed by respected psychologist and motivational speaker Dr Leahcim Semaj who focused on mental empowerment, equipping those in attendance with the ability to clearly see past the negatives as one of the first steps towards realizing their dreams. Dr Semaj said, “Sometimes, people just need a reminder that they can accomplish their dreams and that if they are not getting the results they want, then there is a better way of doing things. The focus of this forum, and my presentation, is just that. To get people focused on the opportunities.”

Following this, the more practical segment of the event got underway. Attendees were provided with workbooks and invited to participate in sessions where they worked through budgeting, setting up an emergency fund, as well as checklists to achieve their priority goals.

The company was clear on the role it has to play in helping Jamaicans achieve their financial objectives, especially in challenging times, particularly those who were motivated and ready to create and work their plans. In closing the forum, Keith Duncan further added, “Through the years, we’ve helped many of our clients achieve their personal goals, working with them to create a plan and supporting them at critical times so they stick to it. We’ve walked with many of our clients and so we know that you too can do it! In spite of the challenges, opportunities abound, and we are here to help persons identify and take advantage of them.”

The JMMB team will take the ‘Possibilities’ to Junction on April 14, and close the series of forums on April 17 in Portmore.
