John Dunkley painting to be auctioned on Sunday
There’s been a veritable buzz among art lovers in Jamaica since waking up to the news this morning that a John Dunkley work of art, notably Three Spanish Jars (circa 1943), goes under the gavel this Sunday.
“This work of mixed media on board is a rare find on the market,” stated one avid collector adamant to keep his identity anonymous, just in case word got out that he’d be bidding. “It is believed,” he continued, “that this artist created a sum total of 50 pieces in his lifetime, and this particular piece could fetch up to $9 million.”
Three Spanish Jars is released by the Norman Rae Estate, and consigned to the National Gallery of Jamaica for the Art for Haiti Auction this Sunday.
