Saints, Alpha into U-16 schools hockey final
ST Andrew High School and Alpha Academy motored into the final of the JHF/ISSA Under-16 School League after wins in the semi-finals yesterday against Papine High and Excelsior High at Mona.
Demi Nicholson got the breakthrough in 37th minute for St Andrew to clip Papine 1-0, while Alpha Academy registered a convincing 3-0 whipping of Excelsior High.
Brittney Smith, showing attacking dominance, cracked Alpha into the lead in the eighth minute as Shanar White added the second in the 31st to bring her tally for the season to a record 15 goals.
Trishana McLeod, planted into the attacking third and playing only for a couple of months, settled the issue for Alpha, who after yesterday’s performance, will go into next Wednesday’s final as favourites against defending champions St Andrew.
Meanwhile, the boys’ semi-finals will be played this afternoon when Mona High go up against Tivoli High at 3:00 pm and Munro College take on Papine at 4:30.
