It’s always a feat to find the right song for the right occasion. Designers at the 10th staging of Caribbean Fashion Week took up the challenge and paired their collections with music most befitting the look and feel of their designs. Here are some of our favourites.

Pon Di Floor, Major Lazer (Dj Diplo & Switch) featuring Vybz Kartel

Flirty, fresh and edgy, Jae Jolly was warmly received at Caribbean Fashion Week. Major Lazer’s Pon Di Floor remix featuring Vybz Kartel was the perfect choice for up and coming designer Janel Jolly’s brand new fashion line.

Clarks, Vybz Kartel

In true Yardman Style, it was all about urban fashion and flair. Not only was Kartel’s Clarks appropriate, it was also a hit with the audience, who loudly sang every word.

Slim vs Fluffy, Spice and Pamputae

Jamaican designer Sandra Kennedy pulled out all the stops for her plus-sized collection presented at Caribbean Fashion Week. Slim vs Fluffy was the anthem for the fabulous full-figured models who ‘ripped’ the runway on Saturday.

Get Me Bodied, Beyoncé

The up-tempo dance track Get Me Bodied by Beyoncé Knowles, set the tone for the collection by dancehall designer Biggy. The models were feeling it, giving the sexy stomp on the catwalk that only comes from “getting bodied”.

Dutty Wine (Attitude), Tony Matterhorn

The entire song wasn’t played out, but the frequent shouts of “attitude” — sampled from Tony Matterhorn 2006 hit — were enough to remind the models and audience alike, that Ashley Martin’s Attitude collection was a force to be reckoned with.

Dirty Laundry, Bitter:sweet

Keneea Linton was a phenomenal hit at this year’s Caribbean Fashion Week. As the eclectic Bitter:sweet melodies came through the speakers, the models sashayed and made their way down the runway with class and sass. There was definitely nothing ‘dirty’ about this laundry.
