High energy reigns at gospel road show finale
THE thousands who attended the Grace Tropical Rhythms Jamaica Gospel Song 2010 road shows last Saturday at the Mandeville Park left the venue rejuvenated as they witnessed fantastic performances by the 2010 finalists along with 2004 Jamaica Gospel winner Lubert Levy.
Beginning promptly at 7pm, master of ceremony for the show, Markland ‘Action’ Edwards welcomed the finalists in the first segment to perform covers of their favourite gospel hits including Prodigal Son’s Lava Ground performed by Godson; The Potter’s House by Tremaine Hawkins performed by Micah Ministry and Chevelle Franklin’s King Jesus performed by Tiffany Hall.
Before the finalist returned to the stage, 2009 second-place winner Kimiela Candy Isaacs brought the house down as she delivered her original song entitled Reassurance followed by an equally impressive performance by nine-year-old Jamielle Gilman, 2010 Children’s Gospel winner.
In the second segment, Godson had them hanging on his every word with I Need a Word followed by Ann Marie Laing with I Can Trust God. An energetic Miriam Levy bellowed out Arise while Ancient Priest followed suit with his dancehall flavoured entry My Prayer.
Husband and wife duo Micah Ministry delivered Anyway Praise before Raylene Lindo sang her entry I Just Can’t Give Up.
An upbeat Murron Lindo continued the segment with her entry God’s Promises Are True while in a more sober and reflective mood, Terrence Myers performed his entry Father Please Hear.
Omar Douglas had the crowd running with him as he delivered I Feel like Running Away” before Tiffany Hall shared her testimony to close the set with Lost Without You.
An energetic Lubert Levy, along with his family band, delivered an exciting set, performing Roll Jordan Roll, More Fire, By Force, Badaration Deh Yah and many more.
Grace Tropical Rhythm’s kept the crowd refreshed with giveaways and ‘drink-off’ competitions throughout the evening, while Claro provided phone specials for patrons.
The grand finale will be held in Kingston on July 25 at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre under the theme One Voice, One Heart.
