U-17 Boyz tackle Canada at Jarrett Park
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Hosts Jamaica and Canada will continue their preparations for next February’s CONCACAF Under-17 World Championships qualifying when they meet in the first of two friendly internationals today at Jarrett Park, starting at 5:00 pm.
The Canadians arrived in the island yesterday afternoon, around the same time the Jamaicans were being put through a practice session at the venue.
The teams will meet in the second match on Tuesday at 5:00 pm and at the same venue
Like the Jamaican team, the Canadian squad is made up of home-based players, with five of the 20 being taken from the Toronto FC’s Academy programme, four from the Vancouver Whitecaps Residency programme and three others from the Montréal Impact’s Academy Programme.
The Canadians are the first team to use the opportunity to get familiar with the conditions for February’s tournament that will see 12 teams taking part in the two-week tournament, fro which four teams will advance to the FIFA World U-17 Finals.
