‘Wait and see’ in Western Conference league
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Organisers of the ISSA/Western Conference High School basketball competition are adopting a ‘wait and see’ approach on today’s scheduled matches.
Deon Williams, the co-ordinator of the league, told the Observer yesterday they were waiting until this morning to decide whether three games set for today would go ahead.
Herbert Morrison are due to host Muschett High in a double-header at Bogue, while Mannings School and Irwin High are scheduled to meet in an Under-19 match in Savanna-la-Mar.
Heavy rains in Sav on Wednesday forced the postponement of two games — Cornwall College against Rhodes Hall in the Under-16 and against Mannings in the Under-19 section.
Meanwhile, at Spot Valley High, Herbert Morrison swept the double-header, winning the Under-16 game 35-11 and the Under-19 game, 59-52.
Jamoi Richards scored 25 points, along with six steals and five assists, to lead the Under-19 team. David Brown scored 12 points and had 21 rebounds, while Rodeine Reid scored nine points and got nine rebounds for Herbert Morrison.
