On January 15, owners of LIME Mobile TV handsets will be able to watch coverage of Rebel Salute 2011, broadcasted live from the Port Kaiser Sports Complex in St Elizabeth. Following the successful broadcast of Sting on December 26, telecoms giant LIME is now preparing to provide even more reggae entertainment to the near thousands of subscribers on its Mobile TV service.

“LIME Mobile TV is revolutionising the Jamaican entertainment experience” says LIME Brand Manager Stephen Miller, who further indicated that plans were afoot for the presentation of several other local and international productions through the mobile television service.

“Viewers will be able to enjoy the concert while being treated to a digital quality television experience in the palm of their hands, Miller added. The show which will be carried on LIME Mobile TV’s channel 11, will be provided free of cost to subscribers as part of LIME’s free introductory offer, where $250 call credit provides 200 minutes’ talk time and a week’s TV access.

“It will be a great weekend for reggae music lovers across Jamaica” says Patrick ‘Tony Rebel’ Barrett, CEO of FLAMES Productions, the promoters of Rebel Salute.

According to Barrett, the sponsorship by LIME and the facilitation of the broadcasts demonstrates a step in the right direction for the music industry and is indicative of the type of support required to bolster the growth of reggae music.

In November 2010, LIME launched the Caribbean’s first mobile television service in Jamaica and offers 15 premium digital TV and 5 radio channels including local and international news, sports and entertainment channels.
