More bacchanal on week two
It was another suberb Bacchanal Fridays at Mas Camp. The night belonged to telecomunications giant Digicel who stayed true to the theme Once Upon a Dynasty with their version of Ming Dynasty.
At near 11 o’clock, from the outside, one could hear the music by DJ Kurt Riley booming the speaker boxes, as he turned out a string of wicked Carnival selections. On the inside, the venue was scanty with just a few people strolling about, the majority of who, positioned themselves at the Smirnoff Bar where they were afforded samples of the free drink mixes.
However, by the stroke of midnight, it was clear that the soca animals were out and in full effect.
Digicel kept the crowd happy with giveaways of call credit. Patrons who purchased $200 or more call credit from the Digicel representatives also had a chance to win cash and other prizes.
Over at the Appleton bar, patrons were not only served with refreshing intoxicating mixes, but was also entertained by the Appleton ladies who seductively danced atop the serving counters.
Fitness seemed to be the main focus as “Wine and push up you bumpa, wine to the side” the DJ encouraged the female revellers who obeyed him eagerly. Palancing seemed to never grow old as the JW & Blaze hit ruled the night. As anticpatated the soca party would not be complete without a touch of dancehall hits including Busy Signal’s tip pon you to toe, Spice’s Jim Screechie and Demarco’s Love a come down.
When the Observer team made their exit early Saturday morning, the soca party was in full swing as revellers seasoned highly with liquor gyrated sexily on each other.
Along with Bacchanal Fridays the Carnival season will continue with the staging of Beach J’ouvert on Friday, April 23 at James Bond Beach in Ocho Rios. Soca at the Sandbar will be on Wednesday, April 27, Bacchanal J’ouvert on the 29th and the Road March on May 1.
