Curves adds a personal touch to breast cancer awareness
LASCO, through the Curves brand, is educating Jamaicans about the importance of conducting frequent breast self-examinations and annual mammograms during the month of October to recognise Breast Cancer Awareness Month. LASCO endorses the view that early detection is the best way to fight breast cancer.
Earlier this month, Curves made arrangements for over 30 LASCO employees over the age of 35 to undergo mammogram screenings at Women’s Place Radiation and Imaging Centre in Kingston.
“Our staff is one of our greatest assets and one of the main reasons for our ongoing success as a company. Whatever initiative we intend to launch, it is important that our staff plays an integral part,” declared Renee Rose, Curves brand manager.
The popular brand of sanitary napkins, that utilises bright pink as a part of its packaging, advocates for women to be proud of their womanhood. This initiative by Curves was well received by the qualifying staff members, some of whom were doing the procedure for the first time.
“The brand continuously educates and empowers women. This initiative is just one of the ways we aim to build awareness internally,” said Rose. “We hope to continue this project next year. Nevertheless we encourage all women to get regular check-ups and make their health a priority all year round.”
