KINGSTON, Jamaica — Central Clarendon Member of Parliament Mike Henry has expressed regret at the killing of Carol Ebanks, the People’s National Party (PNP) councillor-caretaker for the May Pen East Division of the Clarendon Municipal Corporation.

Ebanks and her son, Jevon Myles, were shot dead by invading gunmen in the Paisley community on the outskirts of May Pen on Wednesday night.

Reports were that both were at home around 11:00 pm when gunmen invaded the premises and opened fire.

Henry said it is sad to note the loss of the life of a vibrant citizen of the town of May Pen, and extended condolence to the relatives, friends of the two deceased people.

“Indeed, the incident reinforces the need for us as a people, and as a country, to truly unite to effectively fight the scourge of violent crime that has been plaguing us for quite some time,” the veteran political representative said.

He called for a thorough investigation of the incident by the police, and reiterated his call for “the people of May Pen and the country at large, to begin to focus as much on finding the solutions to the crime problem as we do on the impact of the problem, so we can get beyond the problem sooner, rather than later, and not have to live with this unpleasant blot on us as a people.”
