Ninjaman to know fate today
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Veteran dancehall deejay Ninjaman is to be sentenced today.
The embattled deejay, whose given name is Desmond Ballentine, was to be sentenced on Friday along with his son Jahneil for the March 2009 murder of Ricardo Johnson, also known as Trooper, on Mall Road in Kingston.
However, his sentencing was postponed because the attorney representing his other co-accused Dennis Clayton was late for court, resulting in Justice Martin Gayle postponing the matter until today.
Hailing from the parish of St Mary, Ninjaman came to prominence in the 1980s. He is known for songs including Artical Don, Border Clash, and Cover Me featuring Tinga Stewart.
The deejay also had a major role in the local action movie Third World Cop in 1999.
