KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Police Federation on Tuesday said the Government seems to be taking a very cynical and simplistic approach to wage negotiations, after again rejecting its wage offer as talks continue between public sector workers and the Finance Ministry.
This resulted in cops island wide calling in sick and corporate area court cases being rescheduled due to the lack of police personnel including the extradition hearing for controversial Jamaican-born Muslim cleric Sheikh Abdullah al-Faisal, which was set for Thursday but was postponed until January 4, 2018.
People’s National Party’s councillor-caretaker for the May Pen North Division, 44-year-old, Carol Eubanks-Myles and her 21-year-old son, Jehvon Myles were murdered on Wednesday in their Paisley Avenue home in Clarendon.
In sport, Superstar Chris Gayle crunched a world record 18 sixes and passed 11 000 runs in Twenty20s, as he struck his second hundred in three innings to fire Rangpur Riders to a convincing 57-run win over Dhaka Dynamites and to the capture of the 2017 Bangladesh Premier League title.
