UTech, UWI to share $12m in computer equipment
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech) is set to receive $12 million worth of computer network equipment from the Palisadoes Foundation to enhance its computer science education and research development.
The networking equipment, which includes powerful data processing intensive computer servers, is part of a consignment to be shared with the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona Campus, informed UTech in a release today.
According to UTech, the donation will be officiated at a handing over ceremony on Friday at UTech’s Papine campus.
The Palisadoes Foundation is a registered company in the state of California, USA, established by Information Technology Communication (ICT) professionals in the Jamaica Diaspora’s Technology Taskforce to promote the use and production of ICT services in Jamaica.
