Holness’ security detail blocks media interview
ST ANDREW, Jamaica — Prime Minister Andrew Holness today refused to speak with members of the media following the nomination of the Jamaica Labour Party’s (JLP) candidate Dr Nigel Clarke in the St Andrew North Western by-election.
Shortly after the nomination, held in Pembroke Hall, Holness hurriedly walked to a waiting motor vehicle as a member of his security detail held on to the microphone of Television Jamaica’s Vashan Brown.
Asked why the prime minister refused to speak, Minister of Local Government Desmond Mckenzie said that he could not speak for Holness.
National Security Minister Robert Montague later said that Holness was at the nomination centre as party leader and not prime minister.
