Sentencing of St Ann family for murder rescheduled
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The sentencing of the St Ann couple and their three sons, who were last December found guilty of killing a mentally ill man 10 years ago, was today rescheduled to February 21 in the Home Circuit Court.
Velma Dean, her husband, Joseph and their three sons, Jermaine, Dwight, and Richard were convicted for the murder of Stanley McLean in Coltart Grove, St Ann, on July 6, 2007.
The body of the 29-year-old man was found with blunt force trauma and other injuries.
Prosecutors lead evidence that the man was stoned and chopped to death by the Deans after he stole a piece of electrical cord from their home.
Attorney Earnest Smith is representing the family.
