Westmoreland teens charged for lottery scamming
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica — The Negril police have charged two 16-year-old males for breaches of the Law Reform (Fraudulent Transactions) (Special Provisions) Act after they were found with identity information at Good Hope in Negril, Westmoreland on Thursday.
Reports are that about mid-day officers were on patrol in the area when one of the teens was seen throwing away a SIM card from a cellphone he had.
A search of the phone revealed identity information for individuals living overseas.
The other teen’s phone was also searched which also revealed over 500 lead sheets. They were subsequently arrested and charged.
They are scheduled to appear before the Savanna-la-Mar Family Court on April 4.
