KINGSTON, Jamaica — Productive Business Solutions Ltd (PBS), a Musson Group company with a footprint spanning 14 countries around the Caribbean and Latin America, has further expanded its presence by securing major contracts delivering leading scanning technology for ports of entry and exit in both Guatemala and Costa Rica.

In 2017, PBS Guatemala successfully bid for the contract to supply body and luggage scanners, as well as metal detector arches for Guatemala’s largest international airport, La Aurora.

This not only made the airport compliant with international standards, but also enabled it to offer leading–edge security for their customers.

The recently completed project, valued at US$2 million, involved the delivery, installation, setup and configuration of industry leading L3 security and detection equipment on schedule, ensuring that the airport is in line with International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) certification.

PBS has also secured the contract to upgrade the security infrastructure at Costa Rica’s largest port, Port Limón port, through which 80 per cent of the country’s trade transits. The project, valued at US$3 million, involves the delivery, installation, integration, start-up, and maintenance of a CX Portal Scan System with software control allowing the scanning and analysis of up to 120 vehicles per hour.

Once completed, this solution will be Costa Rica’s first operational container scanner.

Commenting on PBS’ continued success in the region, Chairman of PBS and the locally based Musson Group of Companies, Paul B Scott, noted that Latin America has proven to be an excellent market for the company.

“As the countries seek to increase their role in global trade, they have recognised the need to ensure that the supporting infrastructure falls in line with global standards. This need created a clear opportunity for PBS to provide high quality equipment, and we have responded to the demand,” Scott says.

“We fully intend to continue expanding our presence in this region, and to eventually become a major player in this market,” he added.

Jamaica’s new Minister of Finance and the Public Service, Dr Nigel Clarke, recently left the post of Deputy Chairman and CFO of the Musson Group, a diversified conglomerate headquartered in Jamaica with operations in the Caribbean, Central America and the Pacific, to become a member of both the Parliament and the Cabinet.

Clarke was also deputy chairman of the PBS Group, a technology firm operating in the Caribbean and Central America, and Chairman of Eppley Limited, a boutique finance institution in Jamaica.
