ST THOMAS, Jamaica — The prisoner who escaped from the police at the Yallahs Parish Court last Friday was recaptured during an operation in Cheesefield district in Linstead, St Catherine this morning.
The prisoner, 19-year-old Romario Dawes, whose escape spurred Commissioner of Police Major General Antony Anderson to order an immediate review of all policies dealing with the safe custody and escort of prisoners in police custody, was charged with various offences including illegal possession of firearm and burglary.

He will be additionally charged for escaping police custody and assaulting a police officer.
He was reportedly captured about 12:00 am when a team of officers conducted an operation in the community where he was found in a one-bedroom board house.
Dawes escaped police custody while he was being escorted from the courtroom to the holding area when he reportedly attacked a policeman escorting him, knocking him to the ground and making his escape.
