Duhaney Park taxi drivers protest colleague’s murder
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Taxi drivers who ply the Half-Way-Tree to Duhaney Park route in the Corporate Area have withdrawn their service in protest against the killing of one of their colleagues last night.
Their colleague, 44-year-old Christopher Palmer of Derby Terrace, Kingston 20 was reportedly shot dead on Washington Boulevard and his car stolen.
The drivers pulled their service a short while ago and plan to take their protest to the streets of Half-Way-Tree.
Reports from the Constant Spring police are that about 8:30 pm, Palmer, who police believe operates a ‘robot taxi’, picked up two male passengers near the intersection of Molynes Road and Washington Boulevard.
Shortly after, shots were heard and his body was reportedly thrown from his vehicle near Lindsay Crescent.
The killers escaped in Palmer’s motorcar, however the motor vehicle was later found on Maxfield Avenue, St Andrew.
