GOLD COAST, Australia — Jamaica ended Saturday at the Commonwealth Games in Australia with 26 medals — seven gold, nine silver and 10 bronze — after four relay events.

The gold medal-winning team of Christine Day, Anastasia Le-Roy, Janieve Russell and Stephenie-Ann McPherson, clocked 3:24.00 seconds to beat Nigeria (3:25.29s) and Botswana (3:26.86s) in the women’s 4×400-metre relay, which was the penultimate event of the day.

On the men’s side, Jermaine Gayle, Demish Gaye, Jamari Rose and Javon Francis finished in a time of 3:01.97s to take bronze behind Botswana (3:01.78s) and The Bahamas (3:01.92s).

Earlier, Yohan Blake anchored the 4x100m relay team of Everton Clarke, Oshane Baileyand Warren Weir to bronze in 38.35 seconds. England won in 38.1s, while South Africa was second in 38.24s.

Meanwhile, the women’s sprint relay team of Christania Williams, Natasha Morrison, Gayon Evans and Elaine Thompson, clocked 42.52s and had to settle for silver after England’s Lorraine Ugen edged Thompson by 0.06s to take the gold. Nigeria took bronze with a 42.75s run.
