Pregnant T&T woman charged with cocaine possession
PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) — A pregnant woman who appeared in court on Wednesday has been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
Melissa Pancham, 32, a mother of two, was arrested earlier this week after the police found 27 grams of cocaine in her possession.
Pancham initially pleaded guilty when the charge was read to her by Senior Magistrate Cherril-Anne Antoine in the San Fernando First Court.
However, the magistrate noticed she was shaking her head while the prosecutor was reading the facts in the matter.
When asked if she agreed with the facts, Pancham said she did not – the magistrate then entered a not guilty plea.
