Traffic signals out of service at Spanish Town Road, Industrial Terrace intersection
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The National Works Agency (NWA) says traffic signals are out of operation at the intersection of Industrial Terrace and Spanish Town Road, which is in the vicinity of the Denham Town Primary School in downtown, Kingston.
As such, the agency is urging motorists to be mindful of pedestrians attempting to cross the roadway in the area.
“The traffic signals at the location stopped working due to damage to signal cabinets following a rare high voltage electrical surge. The NWA is currently working on having the Cabinet replaced and putting the signalised intersection back into operation in the shortest possible time,” said NWA in a release this afternoon.
“Motorists should give way to persons using the pedestrian crossing as they would normally. The reminder is being reinforced particularly because the facility is used mainly by students who attend school in the area,” said Manager, communication and customer cervices at NWA, Stephen Shaw.
The agency is also reminding motorists that the intersection is to be treated as a four-way stop and that “no one has the right of way while the traffic lights are out of operation”.
