St James cop arrested in connection with stolen motor car
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — Investigators yesterday arrested a St James-based police constable in Spanish Town, St Catherine on reasonable suspicion of larceny of motor vehicle after he reportedly attempted to sell a stolen Nissan AD Wagon.
According to reports from the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), the cop, whose identity is being withheld pending further investigations, was in the process of selling the car about 1:45 pm when the prospective buyer became suspicious.
The police said the prospective buyer reported noticing discrepancies with the documents allegedly registered to the vehicle and notified police investigators.
CCU said an investigation was immediately launched, which revealed that the vehicle was reported stolen in Portmore, St Catherine last Thursday.
The motorcar was subsequently seized and the constable taken into custody.
