JLP central executive meeting confirms 4 caretakers
KINGSTON, Jamaica —The Jamaica Labour Party has confirmed the appointment of Education Minister, Senator Ruel Reid and Ann Marie Vaz as caretakers for the North West St Ann and the East Portland constituencies respectively.
The announcement was made following a central executive meeting at the party’s Belmont Road Headquarters, where party officers confirmed two other caretakers.
The other two caretakers are Robert Miller for South East St Catherine and Delroy Slowley for North East St Elizabeth, according to a release from the party.
Commenting on Vaz’s appointment, General Secretary, Dr Horace Chang said she has proven herself to be very popular among the working class within the constituency through her philanthropic contributions, which contributed significantly towards her affirmation.
Chang said the party also discussed the government’s economic policy which continues to show positive indicators.
He also announced that plans commenced at the meeting for the annual conference, which is to be held in November of this year along with other general party matters.
Chang said the meeting was fruitful and that the party is particularly pleased with the economic and national security gains being accomplished by the Andrew Holness led administration.
