Windies tighten grip in 2nd Test vs Bangladesh
KINGSTON, Jamaica — West Indies took a tighter grip on the second Test after the Bangladesh batting crumbled meekly on Friday’s day two at Sabina Park.
West Indies, who chose not to enforce the follow-on despite bowling out Bangladesh for 149 and taking a 205-run lead, were 19-1 in their second innings at the close of play.
Scores: West Indies 354 (112 overs) & 19-1 (9 overs); Bangladesh 149 (46.1 overs) West Indies Captain Jason Holder led the way with 5-44, while fellow fast bowlers Shannon Gabriel debutante Keemo Paul claimed two wickets each.
The hosts, who have a lead of 224 runs with nine wickets remaining, are set to resume on Saturday with left-hand opener Devon Smith, not out on eight, and night watchman Paul, yet to get off the mark.
Earlier on Friday, the West Indies resumed from their overnight score of 295-4 with Shimron Hetmyer on 84 and Roston Chase on 16. But both went early, and their demise was part of a six-wicket collapse for the addition of only 59 runs.
