Piers Morgan apologises after talk show guest makes allegations against Jay-Z and Beyoncé

British commentator Piers Morgan has issued an apology to Jay-Z and Beyoncé after a guest on his YouTube show made allegations that the couple’s lawyer has since deemed “totally false”.

Morgan spoke with singer Jaguar Wright about rap mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ recent arrest in an interview on his ‘Uncensored’ show last week.

During the show, Wright reportedly responded that she had been “screaming” that “Diddy and Jay-Z are monsters” for four years.

Wright has collaborated with a number of hip-hop artistes over the years and famously appeared as a backing singer for Jay-Z in a performance on MTV Uplugged.

According to the BBC, Morgan said Tuesday that he had been contacted by lawyers representing Jay-Z and Beyoncé, who said the claims made by Wright were “totally false and have no basis in fact”.

Morgan, seeming to defend the allegations made on his show, said that Wright would have voiced her opinions regardless of appearing on Uncensored.

“The reality of the modern world is that pretty much everyone had a platform as long as they have something to say that other people want to hear,” Morgan is quoted saying.

He added: “That’s why we invited [Wright] on to be interviewed. The people making these claims have an audience with or without shows like mine.”

But after hearing from the Hip-Hop/ R&B couple’s lawyer Morgan said they would edit Wright’s allegations from the show, BBC reported.

“Editing interviews is not something we do lightly at a show called Uncensored. But like the proverbial cries of fire in a crowded theatre, there are legal limits on us, too. And we apologise to Jay-Z and Beyoncé,” Morgan said in his apology.
