WITH an estimated 20 to 30 per cent of food produced in Jamaica wasted, former president of Jamaica Agricultural Society Lenworth Fulton says the island needs to invest in a food waste management industry that will repurpose items for animal feed.
He noted that animal feed is very expensive for farmers. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) states that this alone accounts for 60 per cent of the total cost for Jamaican livestock farmers.
