A Love To Last A Lifetime
Introducing Mr and Mrs Richard Omally!Raeon Anderson

A Love To Last A Lifetime

Daneille McKoy and Richard Omally’s love story wasn’t instantaneous, but blossomed at just the right time, grounded in faith and a deep connection. The couple sealed their commitment on October 20, 2024, at the Seventh Day Church of God (Reformed) in Kingston, their cherished church home.

Theirs is a timeless tale of childhood friends who ultimately became soul mates. Growing up together in the same congregation, Daneille’s first impression of Richard was of someone reserved and detail-oriented. Over the years, their friendship flourished and through countless conversations, Daneille, a teacher, began to see the potential for something more.

“There was something about the way he listened — so attentively, with such genuine care — that made me feel truly seen and heard,” Daneille told Tuesday Style Vows (TSV). “He was honest and straightforward, never pretending to be anyone he wasn’t, and I admired that. The more we talked, the more I realised how much I valued his presence in my life.”

That deep connection laid the foundation for Richard, a graphic designer, to take a chance on his growing feelings for Daneille. On August 8, 2017, he sent her a WhatsApp message confessing his feelings. Although hesitant at first, Daneille reciprocated a month later. Over the next seven years, it was Richard’s patience and unwavering commitment that made Daneille realise she had found her husband in her best friend.

“I knew Richard was the one for me because of how natural everything felt with him. He was consistent, patient, and always made me feel valued and supported. From the start, he showed me that he was serious about building something real — his actions always matched his words. We just fit,” Daneille recalled. “We could talk for hours, laugh over the simplest things, and tackle challenges together without feeling like we were working against each other. Being with him felt like choosing both love and peace, and that’s how I knew.”

Fate would seal their bond in a moment of serendipity on May 12, 2024. Daneille had just returned from an overseas trip to a friend’s wedding, and while the thought of a proposal crossed her mind, she dismissed it. However, as Richard picked her up from the airport, he suggested a stop on the Palisadoes strip on their way home.

“We were walking along the beach and he talked about how much he missed me and how my absence, even for just a few days, made him realise how much I meant to him,” Daneille said. “Then, out of nowhere, I saw him get down on one knee, pull out a box. Ring was inside! I was completely speechless. I was staring at the ring, so much so that I had to tell him, ‘Ask me the question!’ He did and I said yes!”

Five months later, Daneille and Richard celebrated their love with an elegant ceremony at the Seventh Day Church of God (Reformed), which was beautifully decorated by Karobe Dalhouse.

Daneille wore a stunning wedding gown from RYANTH, altered by Annie Gees Creative Institute.

The ceremony began on an emotional note, as Richard watched Daneille walk up the aisle, escorted by her father Cedrick McKoy, to Daneille’s pre-recorded rendition of I Believe In You and Me by Whitney Houston. “He had no idea, and I got my wish [to make] him cry as I approached him,” Daneille said.

Under the guidance of Pastor James Spencer, and witnessed by family and friends, they dedicated their lives to each other. The celebrations then moved to Arcadia Gardens in Spanish Town, where a grand banquet awaited guests.

Formalities included the cutting of a two-tier wedding cake from CakePleaseJa with a surprise flash mob performance by family members to ABBA’s Dancing Queen. Heartfelt toasts from Daneille’s brother and Richard’s sisters brought a touch of emotion to the evening. With their love cemented, Daneille credited her faith for guiding her to Richard. “My faith in Christ is what kept me grounded, ensuring this was what God wanted for me, and not just what I wanted for myself,” Daneille shared.

The newly-weds honeymooned at Iberostar Suites in Montego Bay, St James.
