SO Cocktails With Sushana Cole

Sushana Cole

Serial Entrepreneur

Style Observer (SO): How would you describe yourself?

Sushana Cole (SC): I am a go-getter. Ms Get it done. I’m a whole vibe — equal parts fun and focus. A true workaholic with a heart of gold, I live to help others win and show up for themselves. My faith is unshakeable, built through real-life battles that turned me into a spiritual powerhouse. I’m the best mom, ever (and I mean that humbly… but facts are facts). Whether I’m your friend, your boss, or your girl, having me in your corner is a win — I’ll have you believing in yourself so hard, you’ll wonder why you ever doubted. I bring great energy, I keep it real, and I don’t force what doesn’t feel right. And let’s be clear: I live for fashion, luxury, and all things fabulous. If elevation had a face — it’s mine.

SO: We saw you recently teaching your son to drive? Who was more nervous?

SC: LOL! I was definitely nervous but I knew he was good! He really fears nothing.

SO: How would you describe your approach to motherhood?

SC: Motherhood is the most important role I’ll ever have. My son truly changed my life for the better. I was just telling someone recently — if I didn’t have a child to be responsible for, I might’ve still been out in the streets. Becoming a mother grounded me. It gave me clarity, purpose, and a whole new perspective on life. Knowing I have someone depending on me motivates everything I do. Every move I make, every goal I chase — it’s all for him and his future.

SC: Which mothers do you admire and why?

SO: The moms I admire most are the women who’ve shaped me — my mom and my grandmothers. Their strength, love, and sacrifice set the foundation for who I am today. Beyond that, I have deep admiration for all the amazing women who embrace motherhood fully and give it everything they’ve got. There are so many incredible moms out there doing the best they can every day, and that deserves all the respect in the world.

SO: You are described by many as the Queen of Reinvention! What say you?

SC: Haha, who said that? I concur, though! I have definitely had to reinvent myself countless times.

SO: What are you currently working on?

SC: Right now, I’m in a season of clarity and alignment — figuring out exactly what I want to focus on. Honestly, I’m blessed to be multi-talented, which is a gift… but sometimes it feels like a juggling act! I’m currently pouring into my boutique, working on elevating it with a more upscale, luxe vibe. I’m also exploring adding a vintage rental section — because I have some fire vintage pieces, and I want to share them in a way that feels seamless and intentional. On the coaching side, where I help women start and grow their businesses, I’m looking at transitioning that into a full-blown agency. I already have the team — I’m just refining the systems so we can scale with impact.

SO: Fashion is business and your approach has always been about business. What advice would you share with our local designers re: the business of fashion?

SC: Let’s be real… fashion is feeling a little boring lately. Everyone’s playing it safe, even the top designers. Where’s the expression? Where’s the wow? We don’t want to wear clothes that make us look like everyone else — we want pieces that speak, that tell a story.

To our local designers: I want to see more risks, more storytelling, more bold campaigns. Don’t just sell the clothes, sell the vision. Break the rules, step out of the comfort zone, and give us something new! I have to give local designer @annaixe her flowers — she’s been stepping out of the box lately, and I’m here for it. We need more of that. More creativity. More originality. That’s what will move the industry forward.

SO: What has Sushana Cole left in the rear-view window?

SC: What she’s left in the rear-view is chaos. Confusion. Saying yes to things that do not align with my bigger vision. I’ve always known who I was — but now, I’m walking in that with more clarity and intention. I’ve let go of survival hustle and stepped into strategic purpose. I’m no longer doing ‘all the things’ just because I can. Now it’s about focus, legacy, and moving with divine direction.

SO: Which song is currently playing in your head?

SC: Weirdly, Drake – Do Not Disturb.

SO: A night in or out?

SC: A night in, for sure. I’m usually working, building, perfecting my craft, or just recharging so I can show up as my best self. Don’t get me wrong, I love a vibe — but my idea of fun is making progress.

SO: And you’re raising a toast with?

SC: Jamaica Grand a wonderful melange of Appleton Estate 8-year old, Grand Marnier, ginger ale and a dash of orange bitters.

SO: Dinner in Paris, London or Tokyo?

SC: I’ve been to both Paris and London, but if I had to choose — it would be Paris, hands down. The vibe, the energy, the food… everything just oozes boujee and feels so me. My London restaurant experience was horrible, but maybe I just need to give it another shot and try other ones. Tokyo is still on my list, and I already know it’s going to be a whole experience when I finally go.

SO: How would you describe your personal style?

SC: My personal style is fun, unique, and effortlessly classic. I don’t do boring, and I definitely don’t do ‘normal.’ Trends don’t drive me — I wear what works for my body and reflects my personality. Every outfit is a statement, and I dress how I feel: bold, elevated, and unapologetically me.

SO: Finally, what gets Shana out of bed each morning?

SC: My son, first and foremost. He’s my biggest motivation and the reason I go so hard. I genuinely love what I do, and I know that if I don’t have it, no one is going to give it to me. I wasn’t built to wait on handouts. That mindset keeps me moving, even on the tough days.
