Opposition spokesman on agriculture, Dr Dayton Campbell, has described as “unacceptable” that only 15 per cent of Jamaica’s arable lands are irrigated.
He made the remark while speaking at the Montpellier Agricultural Show in St James last week, arguing that lack of irrigation is limiting productivity and affecting farmers.
He called for urgent action to increase the number of irrigated lands.
