Page 2 takes a final look at the reception for Bastille Day, held at the French Embassy in Kingston on July 12. Beyond commemorating France’s national day, the evening also served as a farewell to French Ambassador to Jamaica Olivier Guyonvarch, and his wife Boulie Jeong, whose posting ends this year.

Foreign Affairs Minister Senator Kamina Johnson Smith offered hearty commendation for Ambassador Guyonvarch’s achievements, highlighting the friendship between France and Jamaica.

“As you prepare to depart, I know that you do so with a deep sense of satisfaction with the many accomplishments during your tenure and optimism for a brighter future ahead for Jamaica-France relations,” Johnson Smith said. “We send you with warm sunshine in your hearts and we also formally state that the Government of Jamaica does indeed look forward to the continued strengthening of relations between our countries, and the continued social and economic growth and development for the mutual benefit of our people as we partner together.”
