Content Sports Complex powered by solar energy through Caribbean Solar Life donation

ST JAMES, Jamaica — Member of Parliament for St James East Central Bartlett is grateful for Caribbean Solar Life’s donation of a solar system to provide electricity at the recently opened Content Community Centre and Sports Complex in his constituency.

Speaking at the official commissioning of the solar system at Content on Independence Day,  Bartlett thanked Caribbean Solar Life for donating and quickly installing a free solar power system and solar floodlights at the previously unpowered facility—completed within days—so young athletes can train day and night and advance Jamaica’s sporting development.

“The centre had been built and we did not have the benefit of what you saw here today (Wednesday), simply because there was no electricity, but now we are fully powered, and powered by carrying solar light, and I’m very proud of it, and I want to thank them,” said  Bartlett, who is also the minister of tourism .

“We had a discussion less than a week ago, and in two days after the discussion, the basic installation was in place, and we were able yesterday (Tuesday) to complete the actual installation of the flood lights—all solar—so that our young people can have the benefit of sporting development day and night,” he added.

Chevaughne Miller, sales and marketing director of Caribbean Solar Life, said the renewable energy company was happy to partner with the Content community, to donate and install a free solar system—including a 10kW inverter, battery system, and lighting for the facility.

“For us, it’s important that we give back to the community, and today, we wanted to do that, not only to furnish the building with a solar system, but also to interact with the people. So we had paintings outside with the children, which gave us the opportunity to play with the kids and interact with the community. A big part of our responsibility as a company is to provide care to the community, and what better way to do that than enhancing the livelihood of the people of this community,” Miller said.
