The Judiciary of Jamaica says the Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court at Public Building East, King Street, Kingston, the High Court Division of the Gun Court, and six parish courts will officially resume sittings on Monday, November 3, 2025, following the passage of Hurricane Melissa.
The parish courts that will re-open are The Family, Coroners, Special Coroners, Traffic, and Parish Courts in Kingston and St Andrew; the family and parish courts in Manchester; the family and parish Courts in Clarendon; parish courts in St Thomas; parish courts in Portland, and parish courts in St Mary (except Richmond).
Both criminal and civil matters will resume in these courts. Matters that were affected or postponed during the week of October 27–31 will be rescheduled and new dates communicated to litigants and other relevant parties, the judiciary said.
The dates will also be posted on the official social media pages of the Judiciary of Jamaica (@Judiciary of Jamaica) and websites of the Judiciary.
