SO2 – Dreaming Whilst B@*k

First…

Living legend Pat McGrath is Glamour magazine’s Woman of the Year! The British make-up artist, who is of Jamaican descent, joins the 2025 class, which includes South African Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter Tyla, Hollywood actress Demi Moore, American actress and singer Rachel Zegler, American YouTuber Ms Rachel, and the WNBA.

Since 1990, Glamour has honoured the world’s most extraordinary women — trailblazers, rule breakers, visionaries, and champions who have defined each year. For the
Glamour feature, McGrath joins American actress Tracee Ellis Ross for an intimate conversation about the power of sisterhood, make-up inspiration, and more.

From backstage icon to business mogul, the world’s most in-demand make-up artist Pat McGrath is one of Glamour’s 2025 Women of the Year. Micaiah Carter

From @glamourmag

Pat McGrath is, of course, mother. And like her make-up, mother’s career knows no limitations. After debuting her Internet-breaking Maison Margiela porcelain-skin make-up, the beauty connoisseur and now #GlamourWOTY stepped into one of her most high-profile roles yet: Creative director of La Beaute Louis Vuitton. Now on the heels of her 10th anniversary with Pat McGrath Labs, she’s showing us a side we’ve never seen before.

So who is Pat McGrath? As we highlight the power of sisterhood, tap the link in bio to read as the #GlamourWOTY has an intimate conversation with actor and fellow beauty entrepreneur Tracee Ellis Ross about the moment she fell in love with make-up, her first source of inspiration, and more.

And…

The new season of British comedy television series
Dreaming Whilst Black which follows a broke and aspiring young film-maker juggling family, work and love, finds Kwabena — played by award-winning Jamaican-British film-maker Adjani Salmon — at the start of his professional career in a new era: The age of diversity, equity and inclusion, where empowering marginalised voices is seemingly at the top of everyone’s agenda.

Season 2, which has been two years in the making, was released October 9, in the UK on the
BBC and will be out in the US early next year. The ratings have been positive thus far.

Speaking exclusively to
SO2 Salmon, who is the series’ co-creator, primary writer and star shared, “It was great to get the gang back together for another season and with new additions in all departments which strengthened the storytelling and vision of the show. Making it was fun, everyone put their all into it and what people are watching (and enjoying) is a product of that. I can’t wait for it to be available in America and the rest of the territories and I’d love nothing more for it to be finally available in Jamaica so my friends and family back home can see what everyone has been raving about! That would be a dream come true.”

American supermodel Niki Taylor is photographed by Genevieve Charbonneau and styled by Randy Smith in Greta Constantine, Lamarque, Tauts, Pierre-Olivier Allard, and Jeremy Würtele for American satirical fashion and culture publication
Flaunt Magazine.

ICYMI…

A week ago, on Sunday, October 26, actors became models, models became actors and A-listers clapped from the front row, as former editor-in-chief of
Vogue Anna Wintour and her Condé Nast cohorts brought their Vogue World franchise to Hollywood after previous iterations in New York, London and Paris. Among the strutters? British-Jamaican actress Jodie Turner-Smith who served futuristic glam in Diotima!

There’s More…

Founder of the 15 Percent Pledge Aurora James is among the LA-based ‘yard stars’ who donated items from her closet for a chic yard sale to aid Jamaica Hurricane Melissa relief efforts. The sale takes place at 1840 Hyperion Ave, Silverlake, Los Angeles, California, on Saturday, November 1, and Sunday, November 2. James, also the founder of lifestyle and accessories brand Brother Vellies, is Canadian, but spent her childhood in Jamaica.
