World Central Kitchen On The Rock
Chef Kohary adds garlic to the pot of rice and peas. Kohary generously offered his space for WCK’s second field kitchen in Negril. Partnerships like this, built with locals who step up for their neighbours, make this work possible..

World Central Kitchen On The Rock

Today, the World Central Kitchen team remains on the island, cooking and distributing thousands of meals each day. Two large field kitchens have been set up — one at the Montego Bay Convention Centre and another in Negril — where local cooks prepare stewed chicken, rice and peas, and other comforting dishes, which are delivered to shelters and communities in need.

More than 30 Jamaican restaurant partners and chefs, including Brian Lumley, Gariel Ferguson, and many community cooks, have joined the effort. World Central Kitchen pays these partners for the meals they prepare, helping to keep small businesses and livelihoods afloat while feeding those affected by the storm. The organisation also works with local farmers and fishermen, purchasing ingredients to ensure the relief effort supports Jamaica’s food economy from the ground up.
