KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Global Empowerment Mission (GEM), working alongside the Building a Better Jamaica initiative and several partner organisations, has joined recovery efforts to help Jamaicans build back post Hurricane Melissa.
According to a World Music Views report, GEM has mobilised 1,492 pallets of emergency relief supplies, valued at more $4.3 million and weighing a massive 1,589,386 pounds.
It said this unprecedented deployment relies on a tightly coordinated logistics system involving 18 airplanes, 18 shipping containers and one maritime vessel, all working to ensure urgently needed supplies reach the hardest-hit communities as quickly as possible.
The relief items include family necessity kits, food supplies, hygiene products, and core disaster-response essentials.
