Champions Holmwood Technical win double on ISSA netball resumption
ST JAMES, Jamaica—Double defending champions Holmwood Technical made a winning start on Tuesday following the resumption of the ISSA Rural Area netball competition, beating Bishop Gibson High in both the Junior and senior categories.
The competition restarted after nearly a month lay-off due to the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa in late October.
After edging Bishop Gibson by two goals (29-27) in the juniors, powerhouse Holmwood blew out their senior team 83-2.
Old Harbour High were also double winners in both sections, beating Tacky High 20-5 in the juniors and 44-8 in the seniors.
They also beat Charlemont High 18-2 in the juniors and 44-8 in the seniors.
Kellits High and Central High traded wins; Kellits High won the junior game 9-5, while Central High were 24-19 winners in the seniors.
In Montego Bay, Green Pond High won two games in the junior competition, 24-17 over hosts Mt Alvernia High and 30-9 over Muschett High.
Mt Alvernia beat Muschett High 36-2.
In other results, Iona High scored two wins in the juniors, beating St Mary Tech 19-9 and Oracabessa High 23-12, while Denbigh High beat Glenmuir High 35-15 in the juniors.
St Thomas Technical were 22-9 winners over Yallahs High in the seniors.
