Happy Hues’ big donation
Did you know that baby essentials company The Happy Hues Co is mom-founded? Founder Eunique Jones Gibson’s dream to nurture happy babies inside and out started six years ago, but became a reality in 2023. The concept, she says, came to her when her daughter was three, and she noticed that none of her training pants featured characters that “looked like her”.
In 2024, while the brand was still in its early stages, The Happy Hues Co products found themselves on the shelves of American retail corporation Target. The brand continued to make waves, eventually catching the attention of Unwind Distributors founder and new mom Loeri Robinson, who was dissatisfied with the baby essentials options available in Jamaica and was searching for non-toxic, soft, and premium diapers for her little one.
@thehappyhuesco founder Eunique Jones Gibson heard her cry and pulled some strings to make her products available in Jamaica.
Fast-forward to November 2025, and The Happy Hues Co, distributed locally by Unwind Distributors, has announced a significant donation of its premium, shea butter-infused diapers to support families affected by Hurricane Melissa. The total value of the donated goods is a remarkable J$5,000,000.
Jones Gibson holds a deep affection for Jamaica and saw it necessary to step up swiftly and substantially upon recognising the urgent needs of Jamaica’s children, parents, and other caregivers in the wake of the disaster.
“When we saw the devastating impact Hurricane Melissa had on Jamaican families, especially the youngest and most vulnerable, we knew we had to act immediately and in a meaningful way, and we are happy that Happy Hues jumped on-board in such a meaningful way,” said Robinson, director, Unwind Distributors. Happy Hues’ mission is to bring comfort to babies, and right now, that means ensuring essential supplies are available to those who need them most.
The donated diapers have started to be distributed across various organisations and key community figures dedicated to relief efforts, ensuring the aid reaches families in critical need.
Key recipients of the Happy Hues donation include:
• Paediatric Association of Jamaica — which will be allocating the diapers to hospitals, health centres and by extension communities worst-hit by the hurricane in St Elizabeth, Westmoreland, Hanover, St James, and Trelawny.
• ILAHs Lemon-aid Stand For Kids
• Emprezz Golding
• Olympian Asafa Powell and his wife, Alyshia Miller-Powell
