“When you take a trip, you should always leave with an open mind because there is so much to see and learn.”
This was the charge to guests by author Michelle Simone “SiiM” Clarke — architect, designer, and creative director — at the launch of her book,
Gallivant, held last Thursday at the Jamaica Food and Drink Kitchen in Kingston.
Detailing adventures and personal stories from 13 countries, the travelogue and memoir proved to be a transformative project for Clarke, who found herself both vulnerable and deeply empowered by what she encountered on her sojourns.
“At first when I was doing it I was fearful. But I moved on from that and it ended up being a very empowering process,” Clarke said.
