JLP scraps annual conference for 2025
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) has announced the cancellation of its Annual Conference for 2025, marking a departure from the long-standing tradition of hosting the event each November.
According to a statement released by the Jamaica Labour Party Communication Taskforce Chairman, Senator Abka Fitz-Henley, the decision was made unanimously during a meeting of the Standing Committee on November 18. The matter will next be referred to the JLP’s Central Executive, which convenes on December 7 to formally review and endorse the committee’s recommendation.
Party officials say the move is aimed at allowing the organisation to devote its full attention to supporting national recovery efforts following the widespread impact of Hurricane Melissa. The JLP indicated that all resources and focus will be directed toward assisting Jamaicans as the country continues its recovery drive.
