NCB extends financial support to customers and businesses recovering from Hurricane Melissa

KINGSTON, Jamaica –The National Commercial Bank Jamaica Limited (NCB) has rolled out a comprehensive customer relief programme to support individuals, households, small businesses and corporate clients affected by Hurricane Melissa.

The programme provides a range of loan, credit and insurance-related solutions to help customers manage the financial strain caused by the storm. Relief measures are available through April 30, 2026.

“Hurricane Melissa has disrupted lives and livelihoods across the country, and many customers are still dealing with serious financial and emotional strain,” said Bruce Bowen, chief executive officer of NCB. “This programme is designed to give customers options. Whether they need more time, refinancing support or help managing cash flow, our teams are ready to work with them. We want to make the path to recovery more manageable for as many people as possible.”

The customer relief programme includes options such as temporary breaks from loan payments, extended repayment periods, refinancing solutions for secured and unsecured loans, access to additional funds for qualifying customers and a waiver of RTGS fees until December 31, 2025. All support is assessed on a case-by-case basis to ensure alignment with each customer’s situation.

For business and corporate clients, NCB has also made additional working-capital support available and will have tailored solutions for customers with specific needs.

In addition to lending and credit support, policyholders insured through NCB insurance agency & fund managers (NCBIAFM) are encouraged to begin the claims process for hurricane-related damage. Customers may submit photographs, estimates and claim documents to melissa.claims@myguardiangroup.com.

NCB is also continuing its broader national recovery efforts through the Building a Better Jamaica (BABJ) Fund 2.0, which has committed more than J$500 million to relief activities across affected communities. Work will be executed through N.C.B. Foundation’s partners, who are working on the ground to deliver supplies, assistance to families and communities in need and will soon focus on rebuilding efforts.

NCB is urging customers seeking support from its customer relief programme are encouraged to send an email to customerrelief@jncb.com, or contact their relationship manager/personal or business banker, visit their nearest NCB branch, or call the customer care centre at 888-NCB-FIRST (888-622-3477).
