My Kingston

Dr Rodane Ruddock

Style Observer (SO): What are your middle names?

Dr Rodane Ruddock (RR): Everton Headley

SO: What’s your astrological sign?

RR: Aries, the first fire sign!

SO: How would you describe yourself, in a few words?

RR: Outgoing, charismatic, ambitious, hard-working and sensitive.

SO: How would your patients describe you?

RR: Caring, capable, good sense of humour and compassionate.

SO: What attracted you to medicine?

RR: The challenge! This was something I thought was unattainable.

SO: How has the journey been?

RR: Interesting and fulfilling.

SO: Much has changed in the last two decades in dermatology! What’s new, different and in demand?

RR: Indeed it has! What’s new and in demand are:

• Biologic therapy

• Cosmetic dermatology

• Peptides in dermatology

SO: How have you kept abreast of today’s demands?

RR: Through
social media, research articles and academic conferences.

SO: What’s the most in-demand request?

RR: Weight loss management, acne and eczema.

SO: Switching gears now. What do you love about Kingston?

RR: I’m a city lover, so the city lights and accessibility

SO: Where would you take a first-time visitor to Kingston, Jamaica?

RR: Devon House because of its rich history and rich flavour.

SO: Given the opportunity to change a few things about the capital city, what would they be?

RR: The bad roads and traffic… We need flying cars (lol) or a more efficient public transport system.

SO: Driving from Kingston to Ochi, what kind of music would you be listening to?

RR: Drake and Chronic Law… I love deep music that achieves sonic perfection.

SO: Which cologne are you currently splashing?

RR: LV Ombré Nomade .

SO: When, where and how did your affair with the cardigan commence?

RR: It started a few years ago, when I got accepted in residency at The University Hospital of the West Indies.

I did some research and realised that my style could be immediately elevated with a single garment! The rest is history.

SO: What’s your go-to Appleton drink?

RR: 21-year-old neat!

SO: What was the last concert attended?

RR: Freedom Street!

SO: What’s on your 2026 travel itinerary?

RR: Starting Dr Ruddock Dermatology.

SO: What’s your New Year’s wish for Jamaica?

RR: Economic stability and recovery to western Jamaica.

SO: Finally, what’s your personal credo?

RR: Better a little caution than a great regret.
