Cocktails With

Petal Russell

Registered nurse and deputy clinical manager for The Manor Care Home, Old Windsor, UK

Style Observer (SO): What’s your zodiac sign?

Petal Russell (PR): Sagittarius

SO: Describe Petal in five words.

PR: Curious, helpful, adaptable, conversational and funny

SO:What advances in medicine have impressed you lately?

PR: Artificial intelligence and gene editing technologies are impressive yet scary at the same time.

SO: You have ushered in the new year in Jamaica. What have been some of the highlights?

PR: I had an incredible time ushering in the new year in Jamaica! My highlights included Twist at Pier 1 in Montego Bay, where my friend Ashley Dunbar picked me up from the airport and we headed straight to the party. Seeing everyone come together and smiling after the devastating hurricane was truly the highlight of my night. The resilience and spirit of the community were inspiring. Later, we headed to Frenchmen in Kingston, and it was an unforgettable experience; we enjoyed Champagne, delicious food, great music, and wonderful company under the stars. The night was filled with laughter, friends, and family, making it a perfect way to welcome the new year.

SO: What are you drinking today?

PR: I’m having a Drunken Pimento.

SO: What’s on the front burner for 2026?

PR: To do more humanitarian work and travel to fantastic destinations?

SO: How would you describe your sense of style?

PR: Classy and sexy. I have a keen eye for elegance and sophistication with a hint of sass and allure. I am about effortlessly blending refinement with a touch of seduction.

SO: Where are your favourite shopping destinations?

PR: Italy and Paris

SO: Netflix or an evening out?

PR: Evening out all the way!

SO: Which country or countries are on your 2026 travel itinerary?

PR: I’m itching to revisit some of my favourite destinations — Cape Verde and South Africa in Africa, and Sardinia and Sicily in Italy. I’m also drawn to the Swiss Alps, where I’ve had an unforgettable skiing experience in Zermatt at the Matterhorn. Next on my list is St Moritz, where I’m eager to experience its renowned slopes and breathtaking scenery. The thought of exploring these places again is exhilarating, and I’m looking forward to planning my next adventure.

SO: Which song is currently playing in your head?

PR: I Want To Break Free by Queen and Rich Sex by Masicka

SO: Share with us the name of the last book read?

PR: Die with Zero: Getting All You Can from Your Money and Your Life by Bill Perkins

SO: Finally, what’s your personal credo?

PR: Live life to the fullest, every day, every moment. Always be kind, be brave, and be yourself. Never be afraid to embrace challenges, celebrating successes, and learning from failures. Spread love, kindness, and positivity wherever you go. It is very important. Authenticity, resilience, and compassion guide my path and everything I do.
