Suspect in Harbour View double murder killed in police confrontation
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A suspect in Wednesday’s Bayshore Park double murder was shot and killed during a confrontation with police in Harbour View, Kingston on Friday.
The deceased has been identified only by the alias “Rupie”.
Reports indicate that he was fatally shot during a police operation around 6:35 am. Law enforcement officials say a firearm was recovered at the scene.
Rupie was believed to be involved in the late-night murders of 82-year-old Merna Robinson and 37-year-old Phyllis “Munchie” Powell.
According to reports, the women were shot just before 11:00 pm while they were at home. They were both found with gunshot wounds after residents reported hearing loud explosions.
