Carnival in Jamaica, a street celebration featuring parades and music, presents technical challenges for smartphone cameras, including low light, rapid movement and crowded settings.

Samsung said its Galaxy AI platform, available on devices including the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy Z Fold7, uses scene optimisation, enhanced night photography, video stabilisation and predictive autofocus to improve image quality in such conditions.

The company is highlighting those capabilities ahead of its Galaxy Unpacked event on Feb. 25 in San Francisco, where it plans to unveil the next generation of its Galaxy S series smartphones. Samsung has said the new devices are designed to make AI features more integrated and adaptive in everyday use.

Artificial intelligence has become a key area of competition among smartphone makers as hardware upgrades deliver smaller incremental gains and replacement cycles lengthen. Manufacturers are positioning AI-enabled photography and editing tools as a way to encourage upgrades and support premium pricing.

Samsung said AI-powered tools can enhance photos, stabilise video captured while moving and reduce background noise. On its foldable Galaxy Z Fold7, the larger display allows users to edit and share content more easily, the company said.

Samsung did not provide sales projections linked to Carnival or the upcoming product launch.

The February 25 event will be streamed on Samsung’s website, newsroom and YouTube channel, the company said.
