Head coach of the Sunshine Girls, Sasher Gaye Henry-Wright has remained in Australia following the international series between Jamaica’s Sunshine Girls and Australia’s Diamonds.

Her extended stay is aimed at her participating in developmental activities to strengthen her elite coaching abilities, Netball Jamaica stated in a press release on Friday.

The head coach will participate in a number of workshops and attend training sessions at selected clubs in the Suncorp Super Netball, the premier professional league in Australia. This exposure forms part of Netball Jamaica’s coaching development thrust targeting coaches at all levels, the release stated.

She will remain in Australia for three weeks and will interact primarily with the coaching team from West Coast Fever in Perth, Australia as well as the Adelaide Thunderbirds. She will have discussions with Jill McIntosh, her former coach, her mentor and former technical director of Netball Jamaica.

Coach Henry-Wright says “this experience will be invaluable as the facilities and opportunities for coaching excellence in Australia are second to none. I look forward to learning as much as possible in the short time and am very grateful for the collaboration.”

First Vice President and Chair of the Technical Oversight Committee, Simone Forbes also expressed satisfaction that the coaching excellence experience had been made possible for Henry-Wright.

Netball Jamaica extended gratitude to GC Foster College and its principal, Maurice Wilson for facilitating the extended stay.
